Day Tripper to Bronte Country
9am to approx 6pm
£650 for the full day for up to 5 passengers
Chauffeur driven ride in comfortable Mercedes
Suggested Itinerary:
9am Pick up from hotel to begin our ride. If you havent already taken a Beatles Tour we can stop at the highlights, Penny Lane, Strawberry Field and Beatles homes en route to the motorway. Drive from Liverpool, across the Moors to Yorkshire will take around 2 hours
11am Arrive in Thornton, birthplace of Charlotte, Emily & Ann Bronte, stop at Emily's tea room where we will see the room the girls were born in, and the Charlotte Bronte stone featuring prose by Carol Ann Duffy, the British Poet Laureate
12am arrive in Haworth, which is a wonderfully picturesque Yorkshire Village featuring lovely pubs shops, a vintage railway and of course the Bronte Parsonage Museum. The railway was featured in the film 'The Railway Children'
We will have around 4 hours in the area, there are a several options here, or you tell me what you want to see and we can work it out.
1/ Leisurely: Pub lunch, shopping, Bronte Parsonage
2/ More active: Lunch & Vintage Train ride - for 'Railway Children' fans
3/ For the energetic walkers: Hike across the moors to Top Withens, the location thought to have inspired Wuthering Heights
4/ For the energetic Emily Bronte & Kate Bush fans: Drive across the moors to Ogden Kirk and take a hike to find the Emily Bronte stone carved with profound words by Kate Bush. my absolute favourite female artist.
Options 3 and 4 are not for the faint hearted and the weather may change your mind on the day! Outdoor clothing and walking boots/shoes are essential.
4pm: Depart Haworth for drive back to Liverpool, to arrive approx 6pm.
I'm a member of The Bronte Society, and love everything to do with them, so would love to share my enthusiasm. If there is a book in particular you love, I can emphasise our itinerary based on that, but I must give the disclaimer that my field of expertise as you know is Liverpool. If you wanted a deeper insight into the Bronte's with a Yorkshire expert and Blue Badge Guide then that can be arranged at an extra fee.
This is a wonderful day trip from Liverpool and even if you are not a Bronte Fan, the countryside is spectacular, and Haworth is as picturesque as you can get.
